Collecting your keys and all excited for your upcoming dream home renovation? We are too! But! Before we get to that, here’s a list of some common defects to look out for once you collect your keys!
If you’ve included the default flooring option it’s important to ensure that your flooring is in an acceptable condition before we start renovation. For instance, be on the lookout for hairline cracks and hollow tiles. You can detect hollow tiles by using a coin to tap on the tiles.
It is vital to ensure that all Inlet piping or drainage pipes are correctly installed with no signs of clogged, leakage or corrosion. If left unchecked and unsolved, long term problems could be a big headache after renovation.
Another thing to look out for would be ensuring that all your electrical sockets are in working condition. An easy way to test them out would be to use your ordinary hand phone charger to test each and every socket.
CEILING / WALL
You should look out for hairline cracks, stains and even severe unevenness. Big watermark stains could be a sign of a huge leakage issue.
WINDOW / DOOR
Do not leave out your windows & doors either, and be sure to check that all are functioning properly. Opening and closing each should be smooth and not come with any high pitched screeching. Lastly do check on the lockset’s mechanism as well to make sure that all are in working condition.
